Undernet Chanfix
What is Chanfix?
Chanfix (nicknamed C) is an automated service to reop opless
unregistered channels.
Note that it works automatically if your channel is opless, you don't
need to apply for it.
How does Chanfix work?
All a
channel needs to qualify for Chanfix is:
* Not
registered with X
* At least 1 op with a registered X username
* At least 4 users (including the 1 registered op)
The ops need to be LOGGED IN to X in order to get a score.
Chanfix won't consider channels with less than 4 persons in it.
If you have got at least 4 persons in the channel Chanfix will start
to collect data and calculate a score for each op.
That score is assigned to the channel and the op's username.
If an op has not been opped for at least 13.5 hours, chanfix will not
reop them.
If the channel qualifies, Chanfix will detect if the channel becomes
opless.
Chanfix checks the channel if there are users present who score high
enough to be opped.
If yes, Chanfix will op those users. It may take up to 60 minutes for
reop these users.
What are these "scores"?
If you're logged in to X and opped in a channel that qualifies for
Chanfix, you'll automatically accumulate a score for that channel:
For every 5 minutes you're opped you score 1 point.
You'll need at least 162 points (13.5 hours of being opped) to be
considered to be reopped in case of an opless channel.
You don't need to be opped for one long shot, but over a period of 14
days, which is the period Chanfix is keeping in it's database.
Because Chanfix only records the last 14 days the max score you may
get is 4032.
If there needs some reopping to be done Chanfix will reop the ops with
highest scores first.
If there are 5 rightful ops in that channel, Chanfix will stop
reopping.
Note that you can NOT know the score you got for a certain channel.
When will chanfix take action on my channel?
If your channel was taken over you can report to one of the usual reop
help channels such as #nastrand, #arlington, or #zT. IRC Operators can
force chanfix to start fixing your channel. However when you ask make sure
that you are one of the regular ops on the channel.
If your channel is opless chanfix will automatically start fixing your
channel and reopping the top scoring ops if it meets the requirements
previously stated.
Chanfix works in 2 stages when it fixes a channel:
1) First it clears all of the restrictive channel modes (+bilkr) and
waits 30 seconds to allow users to rejoin the channel.
2) After 30 seconds it will begin opping the top 5 highest scoring ops
that are logged in, on the channel, and have >= 162 points.
(Note that if at any time your channel has 5 ops during a fix, chanfix
will stop fixing your channel. This includes the ops you OR chanfix op
during the process)
I still have a question!
