Hello,
I find images in signatures pretty annoying. Most of the time, the signature is bigger than the person's actual message! Furthermore, I don't see the point of having an image there; changing the avatar should be enough customization. Therefore I am asking you to consider disabling embedded images with [img] in signatures, or create an option in user profile so each person can choose if they want to see those images or not.
On the other hand, I'd like to be able to upload my own avatar, which I've been using on other forums. As any forum avatar should be, this one is smaller than 80x80 pixels, it's not an annoying animation and pretty small in size - I doubt that hard drive space is a problem for those tiny JPGs, GIFs or PNGs.
Can this be done? I'd appreciate a pertinent explanation if the answer is no. Thanks!

I don't think they should disable that. I like the fact that you can have signatures.

eh:) i agree toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo:)
Btw, i would like to post an idea... Custom Avatars would be a wonderful idea.. i mean undernet webmasters [...] ;p should add a prefix size of what the avatar should be.. e.g 60x45 and all the users would be able to upload their own avatars, maybe with their own picture (after they edit it with the selected zise 60x45)...
But simba and every webmaster who is involved with the undernet forum, should be very careful in order NOT to upload porn pictures etc..
Cheers stef ( fets @ IRC )

Uhh... maybe it's too early, or maybe I'm just dense; agree to which of the oppinions? Disabled or enabled images in signatures? Signatures are great imho, as long as they contain text, not images.

To be honest, i don't understand why those images bother you. They're just a form of expression. While disabling BBCode in the signature is possible (by modifying phpBB), that change will be lost when Simba upgrades the forum.

yeah, "custom avatars" function should be available.
or admin will upload them by manualy.
You see new gallery has been oppened, it called "requests"
We have our own avatar right now. (look at mine)
But imo, it is very very hard to add avatars by requests.

Their SIZE bothers me! I'm pretty sure you'd go mad if I posted my whole CV (resume) in my signature. Those images break the normal flow of the discussion, which is text. They are as colorful, annoying and useless as banner images inserted between posts (at least banners would bring you a few cents/view). Want to express your personality? Do it with a good one- or two-line TEXT signature, a custom avatar, and fill the rest in your profile: description, interests, images, whatever; NOT forcing users to look at your pretty pictures in the middle of the text, if they don't want to. Hope this is clearer.

If people abuse it we'll ban them. One can embed huge pictures in the body of the post, not just in the signature. Maybe you want us to disable BBCode altogether?

A better chat place? Suuuure! Give puter an o: line for two weeks and let him do the spring cleaning! The network will probably end up to a third of its current size, and folks will need to take an exam and get an IRC license to log in to the servers, but it WILL be a better place. Sounds like a plan to me

I don`t think your are in the right topic. We are talking about sigantures, avatars here

To be serious i don't think costum avatars is a good ideea, there is a need for improvment but no costum avatars, just my opinion !
