Hello. I've got a 2MB internet connection, and although all my other programs that use internet resources are running great (download at 260kb/s) my mIRC is running extremely slow, practically being unable to remain online. I have tried different servers with no luck. I also tried different IRC clients, although i don't think this is the problems as i recently moved to UAE, and back home my irc client was running great. Any suggestions?

i will suggest you to change the port your using to connect to irc,

in mirc press ALT and O (The letter O )

Then open the Connect Tab, click option and look for "Default Port" change it for 9999

Maybe this will solve your problem.

btw, are you using mirc (The plain one) or a script filled up will addons and remotes.

I'm using undernet, i can't connect to a server using 9999 port. I was using a script, but then i also tried a couple of simple clients, the simplest was Boxedirc, i guess. It runs better than with the script, but still far away from how it should work with a 2 Mb connection, still can't stay online without getting disconnected after some time.

port 9999 is not a valid undernet port, he meant 6666, the default is 6667 most will do some of ports 6660 through 6669, and/or 7000 as well as the default.

hmm. it is actually.

/LISTSERVERS
(14:45) <-psyBNC> Server #1: Zagreb.Hr.EU.UnderNet.org port 9999
(14:45) <-psyBNC> End of Servers.

this is the only server and port on my bnc.

and when i ty /server -m irc.undernet.org:9999

still works too.

my point was, most undernet servers do not supply connections on port 9999, and those that do, don't advertise it.
