Well first welcome to Undernet gerald_110.About your questions. The first thing is that you need to have to become channel operator is a username. You can register a username on http://cservice.undernet.org/live and click on Register! you need to fill out the form and also you need ISP email (it means you can`t put mails like e.g *@yahoo.com *@hotmail.com etc.)After you have registered your username when you are connected to IRC type /msg x@channels.undernet.org login username password to log into X.To become a channel operator first you need to talk with the channel owner and if he likes he will add you to X and you will become a channel operator.Other thing , if you want to register a channel you need to have for that 10 supporters (real users who has usernames) to support your channel and stay on it. (more informations regarding this read the Channel Registration Acceptable Use Policy on http://cservice.undernet.org ) .In the end X is a channel bot which is made for protecting channels. For more informations don`t hesistate to ask in this forum , someone will guide and help you.

Another simple way of becoming a channel operator is to just "cycle" the channel. What is cycle or cycling? It means parting the channel and then joining the channel again. That way, you will become the channel operator. IF! AND ONLY IF! You are the only user in that channel. X is also somewhat a user so you cannot be an op when X is around unless of course you have a username and you have access to the channel thru X.

Happy chatting!
